About the role
Africa50 is a pan-African infrastructure investor and asset manager that has mobilised over US$1 billion from 33 African countries. This Investment Associate role focuses on identifying and executing project development investments in power and transport sectors, based in Casablanca with regular travel across the continent.
Key responsibilities
Build and manage pipelines of investment opportunities using sector and market knowledge
Structure project development and equity investments
Conduct financial modelling and valuations
Coordinate due diligence across financial, commercial, legal, technical and ESG domains
Lead negotiations with sponsors, lenders and government entities
Drive portfolio projects toward bankability
Prepare project documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Cultivate relationships with infrastructure companies, banks and government officials
Supervise portfolio companies and mentor junior staff
Key requirements
6–10 years in project development, investment or project finance in power/transport sectors
Experience in utilities, investment banks, DFIs, advisory firms or infrastructure private equity funds
Project management background
Understanding of concession agreements, PPAs, EPCs and O&M contracts
Track record closing transactions
Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution; MBA/MSc preferred
Advanced financial modelling capabilities
Fluent English; French essential, Portuguese beneficial
Nice to have
Prior African infrastructure sector knowledge and existing African networks
Living experience in emerging markets
Portuguese language skills
