About the role
Africa50 is a pan-African infrastructure investor and asset manager. This Investment Associate role sits within AGIA, a project development fund managed by Africa50 that supports green infrastructure projects across Africa, with a focus on renewable energy, climate resilience and sustainable urban development.
Key responsibilities
Develop pipelines of opportunities by analysing market trends and leveraging sector and sponsor knowledge
Structure project development and equity investments
Conduct financial modelling and valuation analyses
Coordinate due diligence across financial, commercial, legal, technical and ESG domains
Lead negotiations with sponsors, lenders and public authorities
Drive portfolio projects toward bankability
Prepare project documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Cultivate relationships with infrastructure companies, banks, multilaterals and government officials
Supervise portfolio companies and mentor junior staff
Key requirements
6–10 years’ experience in project development, investment or project finance in power/transport sectors
Background in utilities, Tier 1 investment banks, DFIs, advisory firms or infrastructure private equity
Project management experience
Understanding of concession agreements, PPAs, EPCs and O&M contracts
Demonstrated transaction-closing track record
Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution; MBA/MSc preferred
Fluent English; French required, Portuguese advantageous
Nice to have
Prior African infrastructure knowledge and existing regional relationships
Deep knowledge of power and transport sectors
PPP structuring and project finance expertise
Living experience in emerging markets
