About the role
The Strategic Finance Analyst will support the financial analysis behind M-KOPA's major growth and investment decisions across African markets. Working directly with the Head of Strategic Finance, the Analyst will own important elements of the company's long-range planning, market-entry business cases, funding analyses and executive-level financial models. The outputs of the role are used by M-KOPA's CEO, COO, leadership team and Board.
Key responsibilities
Develop and maintain M-KOPA's long-range financial plan
Build base, stretch and market-specific upside and downside scenarios
Prepare assumption packs and supporting documentation for leadership and the Board
Build audit-ready models for new-market entry, unit economics and distribution costs
Analyse funding scenarios and other strategic-finance questions
Build and maintain complex three-statement financial models
Identify balance-sheet and cash-flow inconsistencies before executive review
Support monthly and quarterly budgeting and FP&A cycles
Produce budget-versus-actual analysis, performance commentary and reporting packs
Help migrate financial-planning processes into Anaplan
Structure incomplete business questions into clear analytical models
Key requirements
Demonstrable experience building complex three-statement models from scratch
Experience producing high-quality work under tight deadlines
Strong understanding of how operational drivers affect financial statements
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to document and defend assumptions clearly to senior stakeholders
Strong problem-structuring and financial-analysis skills
Ability to work effectively with incomplete information and changing priorities
Nice to have
Investment-banking or transaction-services background
Experience with Anaplan or another planning platform
Fintech, lending or consumer-credit exposure
Experience with multi-currency and multi-entity African businesses
