Summary
Standard Bank’s Energy & Infrastructure Finance team is seeking a senior lending professional in Johannesburg to lead debt solutions for a portfolio of moderately complex clients. The role owns the design, structuring and execution of financing solutions while managing client relationships, team delivery and lending revenues. Working with Coverage, Risk, Distribution and other product teams, the Senior Vice President will review transaction quality, secure approvals and manage portfolio exposure and balance-sheet capacity. The mandate also includes monitoring infrastructure and energy market developments, advising senior clients and building the team’s ability to originate and deliver financing transactions.
Key responsibilities
Implement the lending strategy, monitor market trends and develop the Energy & Infrastructure transaction pipeline.
Partner with Coverage on client advice, pitches and mandate conversion.
Lead deal teams through origination, commercial negotiations and closing, coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
Review financial models, structures, term sheets and proposed solutions against client needs and CIB requirements.
Manage revenue targets, deal budgets and portfolio performance, identifying provisions and optimisation opportunities.
Monitor exposures and risk metrics, working with Risk and Distribution on capital allocation and balance-sheet capacity.
Oversee diligence, integrity assessments, approvals and regulatory controls.
Allocate client portfolios, set team objectives and coach staff; use market insights to improve lending capability.
Key requirements
Postgraduate degree in Business Commerce.
Eight to ten years leading and concluding debt solutions, including complex Energy & Infrastructure structuring.
Experience obtaining corporate-function support and collaborating across a large bank’s product teams.
Eight to ten years partnering with specialist risk teams, monitoring portfolios and interpreting regulatory frameworks.
Advanced financial-statement analysis to assess business and portfolio profitability.
More than ten years maintaining market and industry insight and providing project-finance/infrastructure thought leadership, including power, oil and gas or logistics.
Proven relationships with C-suite clients, shareholders, boards and external stakeholders.
Deal appraisal and negotiation, financial analysis, local-market knowledge and strategic planning capabilities.
