About the role
The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is a South African national development finance institution whose primary mandate is to promote economic development through industrial financing. This Senior Dealmaker role sits within the Infrastructure department at M Band, leading the evaluation and structuring of infrastructure funding applications on a permanent basis in Gauteng.
Key responsibilities
Evaluate and structure transactions with detailed application of IDC financing instruments
Ensure financial soundness of all credit submissions
Evaluate funding applications across financial, technical and marketing disciplines
Design and negotiate the financial and legal relationship between the client and IDC
Identify and mitigate transaction risks
Lead due diligence teams on high-value and complex transactions
Prepare well-written, motivated reports for Credit Committee presentation
Conduct peer reviews across all due diligence disciplines
Proactively originate and develop a pipeline of bankable transactions
Mentor and coach Business Analysts and Dealmakers
Key requirements
Relevant commercial or technical Honours degree
8-10 years of related work experience, of which 8 years in deal assessment and transaction closing
Competence declared across three due diligence disciplines: Marketing, Technical and Financial
Transaction leadership experience on complex deals
Experience in peer review and interpretation and analysis of financial statements
Knowledge of the market environment, technology landscape and financing instruments
Ability to understand and review models of proposed financial structures
Nice to have
Knowledge of the infrastructure sector
