About the role

Accion Digital Transformation (ADTx) is an investment strategy of Accion Impact Management that provides growth capital and strategic support to financial service providers undergoing digital transformation, helping them serve MSMEs, smallholder farmers, and low-income households more effectively. The Africa Regional Partner brings deep private equity expertise in regulated financial institutions developing innovative digital financial services, and leads the full investment cycle for the Africa portfolio. The region represents approximately 25% of total investible capital and may involve co-investments by limited partners. The role may include managing an Investment Analyst and reports to the Managing Partners.

Key responsibilities

Identify equity investment targets consistent with ADTx's impact mission and digitalization theme

Create and oversee detailed financial models, projections, and valuations to analyse equity investment and divestment opportunities and report to limited partners

Present deal analysis and investment recommendations to the Investment Committee

Lead deal negotiations and execution including legal documentation, ensuring ESG compliance

Manage the equity portfolio and develop and execute responsible commercial exit strategies for portfolio companies

Help develop digitization strategies with the digital transformation team for target companies and support implementation as value creation

Provide strategic support for portfolio companies including alliances, new debt/equity raises, and input on strategic decisions particularly ESG and digitization initiatives

Represent ADTx on portfolio company boards as appropriate

Build co-investment consortia and develop strong relationships with co-investors

Provide ongoing support to Operations and Finance teams on portfolio company valuation and reporting

Support investor relations and due diligence with potential investors

Represent AIM locally in Africa and globally, participating in professional development and knowledge sharing activities

Key requirements

15+ years of progressive investment experience in private equity with a strong focus on financial institutions and fintech

Demonstrated track record of originating, leading, and exiting investments in Africa

Deep sector expertise in financial services and financial technology including operating models, regulatory environments, and competitive dynamics across African markets

Proven ability to define and execute regional investment strategies including building proprietary pipelines and identifying emerging themes

Experience partnering with financial institutions to drive value creation, including design and implementation of digital strategies for financial inclusion

Demonstrated ability to influence board and senior management decision-making as a trusted advisor on strategy, growth, and operational transformation

Advanced analytical and investment judgement with extensive experience leading due diligence, structuring transactions, and managing portfolio performance

Strong ability to build and mobilize networks across peers, stakeholders, and decision makers

Demonstrated leadership capability including experience mentoring investment professionals and contributing to high-performance, collaborative team culture across geographies

Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy within a global, matrixed organisation

Masters level degree in business or finance

Strong oral and written communication skills in English
