About the role
Aruwa Capital Management is a Lagos-based growth equity impact fund focused on investing in rapidly growing, profitable companies that provide essential goods and services to women or meaningfully engage women across their workforce and value chain. Founded on the conviction that addressing gender imbalance among capital allocators in Africa can unlock underserved economic segments, Aruwa aims to close gender economic gaps while delivering strong financial returns. As one of the few woman-owned and woman-led private equity funds on the continent, the firm is led by Founder Adesuwa Okunbo Rhodes and combines international best-practice investment expertise with deep local networks and on-the-ground presence. The Principal plays a key role in sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and executing growth equity investments aligned with Aruwa's impact and gender-focused mandate. This is a full-time, on-site role in Lagos.
Key responsibilities
Originate deal flow and build relationships with entrepreneurs and intermediaries
Lead financial and commercial due diligence and develop investment theses and valuation models
Oversee transaction execution, including negotiating terms, coordinating advisors, and preparing investment committee materials
Actively support portfolio companies through strategic guidance, performance monitoring, and value-creation initiatives
Contribute to impact measurement, reporting, and fundraising activities
Represent Aruwa at industry events and stakeholder engagements across the local and regional ecosystem
Key requirements
10+ years of private equity, growth equity, venture capital, or principal-investing experience
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting
Demonstrated end-to-end deal execution experience: origination, due diligence, closing, portfolio value creation, and exits
Significant experience in complex financial modelling, company valuations, and deal completion
Strong knowledge of African markets and networks (founders, investors, sector experts)
Experience engaging with boards and governance structures; board member experience preferred
Strong negotiation skills and stakeholder management across founders, co-investors, advisors, and LPs
Already based in Lagos with local citizenship or work authorisation
Nice to have
Graduate business degree, Chartered Accountant (CA), CFA, and/or MBA
Sector exposure in manufacturing, clean energy, financial services, healthcare, or agriprocessing
