About the role
TLG Capital is an African private capital firm managing multiple funds including the Africa Growth Impact Fund I and II, focused on growth-stage businesses across the continent. The Portfolio Monitoring Manager leads monitoring, performance tracking, and investor reporting across TLG Capital's African portfolio. This hands-on position requires comfort working with imperfect information while maintaining reporting discipline across multiple concurrent fund cycles. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Key responsibilities
Track financial indicators and covenant compliance across portfolio companies
Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial submissions from portfolio companies
Analyse performance against budgets and investment assumptions
Conduct regular check-ins with investee companies
Prepare dashboards and variance analyses for management review
Coordinate quarterly and annual investor reports across funds
Collect financial, operational, ESG, and impact data from portfolio companies
Ensure consistency and completeness of portfolio data and respond to investor information requests
Help strengthen financial reporting and budgeting systems at investee companies
Establish KPIs and performance-tracking mechanisms for portfolio companies
Support management updates for boards and lenders
Contribute to due diligence on new investment opportunities
Key requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or CFA) preferred
5-8 years of experience in portfolio management, financial analysis, audit, private equity, or SME advisory
Track record with financial statement analysis and financial modelling
Experience coordinating investor or lender reporting
Ability to design reporting templates and dashboards
Clear written communication skills for investor-facing materials
Self-starter with ownership mentality; able to manage multiple reporting timelines
Nice to have
Experience with SMEs or growth-stage businesses in Africa
Familiarity with ESG, impact, or DFI reporting frameworks
Familiarity with accounting systems or BI tools
