About the role
Africa50 is a pan-African infrastructure investor and asset manager. The Investment Director originates, negotiates, develops, closes and manages Africa50 project development investments, providing leadership and technical support to project teams with the goal of achieving bankable outcomes.
Key responsibilities
Build a pipeline of opportunities through market trend analysis and sector knowledge
Execute Africa50 project development investments with a focus on bankable outcomes
Lead structuring of complex transactions involving negotiations with multiple stakeholders
Establish quality standards across the investment process
Develop and present investment recommendations
Lead and mentor project teams
Cultivate relationships with infrastructure companies, banking partners and government officials
Develop deep sector knowledge in power and transport industries
Key requirements
10+ years investment and industry experience in project development, project finance or related roles
Experience within utilities, Tier 1 investment banks, DFIs, advisory firms or infrastructure private equity
MBA, MSc or equivalent from a top-tier university
Demonstrated track record closing complex infrastructure transactions
Prior experience managing and mentoring investment staff
Nice to have
Fluency in English and French; Portuguese advantageous
Strong African connections and intent on an Africa-focused career
Living experience in emerging markets
Understanding of PPP structuring, project finance and infrastructure financing trends
