About the role
CrossBoundary Energy is recruiting a full-time Investment Associate or Senior Investment Associate to join its Investment team. The role spans the full investment cycle: fundraising, project due diligence, structuring, portfolio management, and risk mitigation for distributed renewable energy assets. CrossBoundary Energy develops, owns, and operates renewable energy solutions — including ~400 MWp of solar PV, wind, and thermal projects and ~700 MWh of battery storage — primarily across African markets, with a US$550M portfolio of awarded, signed, in-construction, and operating assets.
Key responsibilities
Drive group-level senior and subordinated debt capital raising, including corporate and project finance models, presentations, investment memoranda, term sheet negotiation, and due diligence
Assess and structure project investment opportunities from early-stage leads through to financial close, ensuring alignment with portfolio objectives and bankability
Drive project-level fundraising for senior debt, subordinated debt, and bridge instruments
Analyse project economics, risks, and contracts to support value-accretive project development
Maintain portfolio models and track investment performance metrics and debt covenants, identifying key risks proactively
Execute tax, capital, and corporate structuring to optimise economic outcomes across group and project levels
Prepare investor updates and engagement materials for group and project-level investors
Identify and execute solutions to mitigate investment risks across the portfolio
Key requirements
3–6 years of experience in energy, infrastructure, or project finance at a top-tier investment bank, commercial bank, or specialist advisory firm
Demonstrated transaction experience across corporate/project finance, financial modelling, due diligence, fundraising, and investment analysis
Experience in or strong understanding of African energy sector markets
Strong analytical capabilities with high attention to detail
Excellent presentation skills and ability to produce clear, high-quality investment materials
Ability to project-manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities across cultures
BA/BSc/HND qualification (minimum)
