About the role

The Global Head of Guarantees leads PIDG's worldwide guarantees business, with overall responsibility for GuarantCo — setting strategy, driving growth, managing risk, and ensuring operational excellence across multiple regions including Africa and Asia. The role chairs the GuarantCo Executive Committee, leads 3-year strategic business plans, and acts as a senior public ambassador for the PIDG Group. PIDG (Private Infrastructure Development Group) is a development finance institution focused on mobilising private investment into infrastructure in frontier and emerging markets aligned with SDG objectives.

Key responsibilities

Take overall responsibility for GuarantCo, including strategy, growth, risk management, and operational performance

Develop and implement PIDG strategic objectives under Board oversight

Maintain and strengthen external ratings agency ratings for GuarantCo

Manage cost structure and financial performance aligned with SDG objectives

Chair the GuarantCo Executive Committee and lead 3-year strategic business plans

Serve as culture carrier emphasising transparency and collaboration across the organisation

Build senior-level relationships with partners and government officials

Act as public ambassador for the PIDG Group at senior forums and events

Allocate funds for new development activities in collaboration with PIDG Ltd

Key requirements

Degree-level education

Extensive governance experience, including board-level positions

Strong private sector background in infrastructure finance, guarantees, or related fields

Understanding of infrastructure funding and project development cycles

Knowledge of guarantees from Export Credit Agencies and multilateral institutions

IFRS, Basel, and Solvency framework expertise

African and Asian market experience

Multi-cultural team management and matrix organisation collaboration experience

Excellent communication skills with high ethical standards

Nice to have

Professional qualifications in finance, law, or a related discipline
