About the role
Based in Lagos and reporting to the Nigeria Country Head, the Country Officer connects local market knowledge with IFC’s investment, advisory and upstream teams. The remit spans country strategy, sponsor assessment, transaction progress and portfolio problem-solving, alongside relationships with government, businesses and other World Bank Group institutions.
Key responsibilities
Help implement the Nigeria country strategy and contribute to business plans and World Bank Group country assessments.
Identify and develop projects with investment and advisory teams, assess prospective sponsors and support transaction structuring.
Track the pipeline, help resolve portfolio issues and maintain relationships with clients and development partners.
Prepare management briefings and board materials, and represent IFC in external meetings and country visits.
Key requirements
Master’s degree in finance, business, management, economics or a related discipline.
At least eight years in investment or commercial banking, public-private partnerships, consulting, or investment/advisory operations.
Experience in Africa or a strong interest in the region, with sound judgement on commercial opportunities and risks.
Strong stakeholder relationships, leadership and analytical communication, including excellent written and spoken English.
Nice to have
Nigeria or other fragile/conflict-affected market experience; financial modelling, credit analysis and transaction structuring skills.
