About the role
As an Assistant Investment Manager (Bilingual), you will support the investment team across each stage of the investment process for all of FEDA's fund strategies. The role requires bilingual proficiency in English and French to serve FEDA's pan-African mandate across Anglophone and Francophone markets. FEDA (Fund for Export Development in Africa) is the impact investment subsidiary of Afreximbank, a US$1 billion multi-investment platform providing equity, quasi-equity, and private credit solutions to support the growth and transformation of Africa's trade and industrial sectors.
Key responsibilities
Support the investment team across all phases of the investment lifecycle, including deal origination, evaluation, investment committees, Board presentations, portfolio management, exit strategies, and fundraising
Assess potential investments, including risks, opportunities, and merits of investment projects for each of FEDA's fund strategies
Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, modelling, and valuation to evaluate investment opportunities and perform portfolio monitoring
Support deal structuring, term sheet preparation, investment memo drafting, and participation in negotiations
Organise deal execution meetings and follow up on implementation of key decisions
Perform due diligence on target companies and coordinate due diligence advisors; review their deliverables and present findings to FEDA's management and investment committee
Support development, implementation, and monitoring of value-creation plans including ESG action plans for portfolio companies
Prepare monthly and quarterly investment reports for FEDA's governance bodies (Executive Management, Board, Investors)
Support fundraising efforts, including creating marketing materials and participating in investor meetings
Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and economic factors affecting FEDA's investments
Key requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Engineering, Sciences, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in investment banking, private equity, or a similar financial role
Strong financial analysis, valuation, and investment structuring experience
Proficiency in financial modelling, Excel, and analytical tools
Strong understanding of investment principles, valuation methodologies, and risk management
Solid understanding of private equity and greenfield investments in Africa
Bilingual proficiency in English and French
Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks governing private equity investments
Nice to have
MBA or MSc in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Banking
