Nairobi-based EBRD role covering Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting economic and policy analysis, capital-markets development, country strategy, transaction work and Banking teams on specific investments.

About the role

The Analyst will join EBRD's Nairobi-based Regional Policy and Strategy team covering Sub-Saharan Africa. The team develops country strategies, economic and political analysis and policy programmes in coordination with Banking and specialist policy teams. The Analyst will contribute to macroeconomic analysis, country diagnostics, reform monitoring and policy work while also supporting specific EBRD investments and transaction-related assignments.

Key responsibilities

Monitor economic growth, macroeconomic risks and structural-reform progress across the region

Support policy work in green transition, economic governance, competitiveness, human capital, digitalisation and capital-markets development

Contribute to investment transactions, policy initiatives and analytical assignments

Support Banking teams on specific investments and related committee or Board presentations

Prepare macroeconomic assessments, briefings, presentations and short analytical reports

Contribute to EBRD's Regional Economic Prospects and annual Transition Report

Support preparation of country diagnostics, country strategies and policy compacts

Prepare regular growth forecasts and long-term scenarios for Banking financial models

Conduct research on macroeconomic, sectoral, structural and policy developments

Coordinate with multidisciplinary and international teams across EBRD

Key requirements

Degree-level education in economics or a closely related discipline

Understanding of economic theory, economic policy and development policy

Familiarity with emerging markets and transition economies

Familiarity with finance and investment decision-making

Experience contributing to project management and multidisciplinary teams

Ability to communicate complex economic and policy subjects clearly

Strong research, writing and stakeholder-management skills

Excellent written and spoken English

Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills

Demonstrated commitment to EBRD's transition mandate

Nice to have

Education or experience in industrial business, engineering, environmental sciences or energy economics

Knowledge of a priority policy area

Knowledge of another language used in EBRD countries of operation
